Climate Envoy Kerry Heading to India, UAE

He is seeking international commitments on climate.

John Kerry, President Biden’s climate envoy, is traveling to India and the United Arab Emirates in the coming days in pursuit of deeper international commitments to addressing climate change. This will be Mr. Kerry’s second international trip—his first to Asia. He met in March with allies in Europe.

The trip comes ahead of an international climate summit the president is hosting in April, and at a time when world leaders are preparing to negotiate new commitments for cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

The administration is making India an early stop because it is the world’s third-largest emitter of the gases said to contribute to climate change and is also seen as a more amiable partner at a time of friction with China, the world’s biggest emitter.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For climate envoy Kerry and those traveling with him to remain safe and healthy in their travels.
  • For the U.S. officials involved in the coming summit on greenhouse gas emission reductions and their intents to steward the planet.
